I didn’t know this so ace question, apparently people always thought that zebras were whit with black stripes (because some kinds had white underbellies) but people did a study into zebra embryos and it turns out they develop black and white stripes come later..
In my search for the answer to this is did come across a photo of an albino Zebra!
They kind of look like they’re white with black stripes, but as Judith says it looks like the embryos start off black before they get their white stripes…
I had a quick search to see if other stripey animals develop the same way, but couldn’t find much on it. It looks like tigers are orange with black stripes rather than the other way round though!
