      No. I guess the most similar event was when I participated in a quiz at a pub in Reading. I was the new guy and knew a lot of answers the others on my team didn’t know; not even science so much but some trivia like the name of Sherlock Holmes’ brother. When our team won, our only prize was to write the quiz for next week! Still, it was fun.

      No. The only two scenarios that I remember where I have been asked questions like this in a public forum are when I stood for elections in a student body and when I was part of debating teams.

      Hmm, no. There was a science writing competition that ended last month, and I was going to enter that but every time I tried to write something I ended up hating what I’d written, and in the end I ran out of time!

      Ah well, always next year…

      Not really any competitions. Ive explained bits of science to all kinds of people but that was never to win anything!

      Nothing like this, but I have participated in other events that aim to engage the general public with different scientific concepts and current research.

    I always enter competitions online for free stuff but I have never won anything. This is my first science compo though. I really don’t want to mention a talent show I once entered on holiday!
