I had a mad chemistry teacher (for GCSE) who had done every science related job, from working in the oil industry, to drug research to home brewing beer in her basement-she had massive enthusiasm for everything and helped me see how science can be related to everyday lives. make you realise how important it is but also helps you remember things!!

I wasn’t particularly interested in it when I was younger. I quite liked it in year 9 but not so much for GCSE. I took Biology for A level because I was interested in that the most, and that’s probably when I got really interested in it. Then I ended up doing it at uni and it just kept getting more interesting 🙂

Yeah, very much so – I can clearly remember some of the experiments we carried out in primary school, like growing cress from seeds, and another where we placed a piece of celery in a glass containing blue dye and observed the liquid being drawn up within the celery; it was pretty cool! My interest in science continued to grow from there. At GCSE level, I developed a preference for biology, and so I ended up studying this at university. My curiosity and fascination with the subject still hasn’t stopped!
