My lab hours are usually 8 am to 7 pm every weekday and I tend to go to the lab on weekends especially if I have deadlines for group presentations. But this does not mean that I spend all day just doing my subject. I usually take breaks after a few hours in the lab. Also, when in the lab we don’t spend very much time studying the subject because that time is spent doing experiments. The reading gettings gets done when there is free time from experiments.

I don’t really have a day-to-day routine, so my hours vary quite a bit. I usually try to get to work for 8:30 (doesn’t always happen) and I leave before 6pm. I don’t usually work in the evenings at home, but I quite often have to pop into the lab on weekends to look after the cells I’m growing (it’s like having a really rubbish pet!).

I don’t really have set hours so it mostly depends on what’s going on with my work. Most of the time if I’m in the office outside of 9am to 5pm it’s because there is a deadline or to use equipment that is in high demand.
