• Question: is out universe expanding into another? and if so, is that universe shrinking?

      I don’t think the universe is expanding in to another. The current accepted theory is that our universe is expanding probably into empty space (no one knows what lies beyond the edge of the universe but many predict it is just empty space).

      Astronomers think the universe is expanding, and they think there could be multiple universes, but I don’t think they think ours is expanding into another. They haven’t yet worked out whether or not the universe is infinite, because they aren’t able to see the edge of it. If the universe is infinite then it can’t be expanding into anything.

      All this astronomy stuff can be pretty confusing. Well, I think it can anyway! This is quite a good video that explains what people think the universe might be expanding into:

      (I’d recommend skipping the first minute because it’s literally just someone saying ‘aaaaaaaahhh’)
