In school I remember doing a pretty cool experiment where we directed different coloured lights at maggots to see what they’d do. They move away from white light, but not from some coloured lights… I can’t remember the exact results though. It was quite fun so maybe I’ll do it again one day 😉

I think my first science experiment was seeing what happens when a tiny piece of sodium metal is added to a sink full of water. I think it was a great start to my career in science.

When sodium is dropped in a sink full of water there is a tiny explosion. All of us were given a tiny piece to try it ourselves. It was so tiny that that all we saw was a ‘plop’. But at the end of it our science teacher asked us to go far away and then he threw a bigger piece into the sink. And there was a big explosion. None of us who saw that will ever forget it.

It was cool also because after our year, the science teacher stopped doing it! 🙂
